A Pair of 19th century Large Italian Giltwood and Mirrored-Glass Marginal Mirrors

Venetian, circa 1870–1895

The rectangular mirror centered by a large, naturally distressed plate enclosed within a molded giltwood slip, surrounded by an architectural arrangement of octagonal, rectangular, and triangular mirrored reserves. The marginal plates are divided by deeply molded and reeded giltwood members forming a continuous interlocking geometric lattice, within a narrow mirrored outer border.

An Italian carved giltwood Framed Mirror, circa 1780. Rectangular plate mirror framed with lattice work green and gilt border. The frame is surmounted by a high pierced crown with a central ovoid surrounded by ribboned members, the uprights with urn forms and side foliate carvings, and with lower carved support on each side.
